WIDE OPEN SPACES

Tuscany

I consider myself extremely lucky to have found a connection with my creative side, and to pursue it in a way that is both challenging and fulfilling.

My enthusiasm for pastel painting is due to the immediacy, vibrancy and versatility of the medium, continually exciting me with its effects of overlaying translucent colour. My work is continually evolving, the journey forever seeking to portray light; its effect in atmosphere, on luminosity and colour.  As a silent witness, immersed in nature’s beauty, emotions are evoked and so also, the desire to share. By capturing these moments in time, I hope to convey this appreciation to those with whom my paintings connect.

In contrast, I find myself exploring with acrylic/oil on canvas, immersed in a completely spontaneous way, giving myself permission to play and discover. These works are both liberating and fun, exploring my passion for colour!

Since my first solo exhibition in 2004, I have realized a further twelve solo exhibitions and many joint exhibitions with inspiring fellow artists. The raw exposure of the soul stirs mixed feelings of anxiety coupled with a sense of satisfaction and pleasure of achievement.

At home in my studio, 25 Rockliff Ave Karrinyup, Perth, Western Australia, I now run pastel classes, private tuition and display my work in my Home Gallery, which may be viewed by appointment
